Meet the Senior Management Team
CEO & President
Joanne has been actively involved with seniors and elder care for most of her career. Previously Executive Director of Youville Place in Lexington, she is now Chief Operating Officer for both the Lexington and Cambridge Youville residences.
Joanne received her bachelor's degree from Framingham State College, as well as a master's degree from Boston University in Policy, Planning and Administrative Studies. She served on the Board of Minuteman Senior Services for many years in various positions, including as Chairman of the Board.
A native of Massachusetts, Joanne has been ranked fifth place in US Masters Running, competed at the US Olympic trials in the marathon, and was formerly an active tennis player and instructor.

Director of Mission & Spiritual Care
Maria Benoit is trained as a chaplain, and has provided pastoral counseling and guidance to people of all ages. She holds a master's degree in Education from Curry College, as well as a master's degree in Pastoral Care and Counseling from Boston College. She is Board Certified by the National Association of Catholic Chaplains. What she loves most about her role is the opportunity to carry on the mission of the Grey Nuns, and help to make it come to life within the Youville community. Maria has two adult children and a precious granddaughter.

Director of Programs
Katie is responsible for planning and presenting resident activities and programs. She and her staff learn of the interests of every resident, and offer programs and events to entertain, stimulate and challenge. Katie earned her bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation from the University of Southern Maine. A Maine native, she can often be found fishing at the lake, or visiting with her family.

Director of Human Resources
Tom brings fifteen years of human resources experience to his role of Director of Human Resources at Youville. He enjoys getting to know the staff at Youville and working with them to strengthen and enhance the work environment. An outdoor enthusiast, he enjoys all outdoor activities including hockey and softball. He also enjoys the theater, and has a passion for photography. Tom holds a BA in Business Administration from Salem State College. He lives on the north shore with his wife and young daughter.

Director of Community Life
Ginger brings many years of experience working with families who are going through transitions to her role as Director of Community Life. Originally from Massachusetts, Ginger has spent close to 20 years with service and non-profit organizations.
Ginger attended Fisher College here in Massachusetts and Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond focusing on both administration and nonprofit management. One of Ginger’s greatest joys in life is her family. One of six children, with at last count, five nieces, three nephews, five great nieces and four great nephews. Family gatherings are fun, boisterous and loud.

Lydia Nakandi, RN
Director of Wellness
Lydia earned her nursing degree from Middlesex Community College and began her career in pediatrics before transitioning to elder care. She began working at Youville Place in 2012 as Wellness Nurse, and a year later transferred to Youville House as Nurse Manager. Lydia became Director of Wellness at Youville House in 2016.
In her spare time, Lydia enjoys reading inspirational books, cooking, volunteering and raising funds for her charitable organization, Health Santa Africa. She lives in Waltham with her husband and grandmother.
"Our goal in Wellness is to stay continually focused on the needs of our residents, ensuring that they are satisfied with their daily care and that their voices are always heard."
Community Life Coordinator
Ildiko has spent over eleven years at Youville House reaching out to the community, identifying ways Youville House can serve others, and bringing art, education, spirituality and cultural experiences to the residents. Ildiko also reaches out to new residents and supports them and their families through their transition to Youville House. Ildiko earned a Bachelor of Science degree from McGill University and a Master of Education Degree at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. Ildiko describes her greatest accomplishment as her two grown sons.

Director of Environmental Services
Bruce Jordan has been Director of Environmental Services at Youville House for over nine years. He has experience in the hospitality industry and in the housing industry. Through Bruce’s efforts, Youville House has been awarded the Partner for Change Award from Practice Greenhealth for 2009 and 2010. Bruce and his wife, Mary, are natives of Maine and truly enjoy the great outdoors, as well as their kids and grandkids.

Director of Marketing - Youville Place
The newest member of the Youville marketing team, Susan worked for years as Project Manager for a national human services firm. Her interest in working with older adults later led to a position as Outreach Assistant with the Lexington Senior Center. A long-time resident of Arlington, Susan enjoys biking, kayaking, and birding. In the summer she might be found at Little Lake Sunapee in New Hampshire with family and friends. She especially enjoys spending time with the littlest family members — four girls and two boys between the ages of 1 and 5, as well as numerous cats and dogs!

Director of Environmental Services
Bob Salamanca brings over eighteen years of experience in the housing industry to his role as Director of Environmental Services at Youville Place. During the four years he has been at Youville Place, Bob has implemented a number of green initiatives, many of which have resulted in industry recognition, including the 2010 Practice Greenhealth Partner for Change with Distinction Award. He is proud to be part of a great team of maintenance associates and housekeepers.
When he’s not finding new ways to improve the buildings or grounds at Youville Place, Bob can be found in a local spinning class, or at home with his wife Debra, their two daughters Marissa and Audra, and their Yorkie, Sophie.

Kathryn Carlino, RN
Director of Wellness
email: email@example.com With a smile as big as her heart, Kathryn brings many years of experience of working with seniors to her role as Director of Wellness for both communities at Youville Place. She received her BS in Human Services from St Joseph College of Maine, and her RN from Faulkner Hospital School of Nursing. With a special interest in fitness, Kathryn approaches wellness from a very proactive perspective. Helping residents maintain their health through good nutrition and exercise is a priority. Kathryn resides in Hudson, NH. She has 2 children and 1 grandchild, and in her “spare” time can be found engaged with creative endeavors or doing Pilates.

Director of Dining
Dan brings 16 years of previous culinary experience to Youville Place. He began following his passion for food as a teenager, working in restaurants and later apprenticing with a series of chefs. He particularly enjoys French, Italian and Asian cuisine. Dan lives with his wife in Nashua, where they enjoy collecting old comics and other esoteric memorabilia, and taking care of their two dogs.
Director of The Courtyard at Youville Place
Mal Allard brings over 18 years of experience in dementia care to her role as Director of The Courtyard at Youville Place. Since 2003 she has been founder and President of Their Real World, a company that provides Alzheimer's and dementia education and consultation. She is a board certified Alzheimer's Educator, has given presentations across the country and is affiliated with the Alzheimer's Association of MA and NH. She obtained her nursing degree from Youville School of Nursing, in the very building that is now Youville House in Cambridge. A professed member of the Secular Franciscan Order, Mal and her husband John have four children and 12 energetic grandchildren.
