Most people think of “Swing” as the musical era or movement associated with Big Bands. In this presentation, we will find that swing rhythm can be found in all styles, from the physical actions of plantation work songs and religious celebration to the blues. As Duke Ellington quipped, “it don’t mean a thing if it ain’t got that swing.”
