Meet the Senior Management Team
CEO & President
As CEO/President of Youville, Nicole promotes the mission and values of Youville House and Youville Place, in partnership with Youville’s Board of Directors. She is passionate about maintaining an engaging living environment at Youville and ensuring that high-quality, person-centered care is provided to all Youville residents. Nicole earned her bachelor’s degree in Health Management and Policy from the University of New Hampshire. Before joining Youville, she served as Operations Specialist for Covenant Health, and later as the Administrator for Campion Health Center in Weston, Massachusetts.
A native of Wakefield, Nicole currently lives in Westford with her two children and husband. She enjoys skiing, photography and vacationing in the White Mountains in New Hampshire.
Joanne has been actively involved with seniors and elder care for most of her career. Previously Executive Director of Youville Place in Lexington, she is now Chief Operating Officer for both the Lexington and Cambridge Youville residences.
Joanne received her bachelor’s degree from Framingham State College, as well as a master’s degree from Boston University in Policy, Planning and Administrative Studies. She served on the Board of Minuteman Senior Services for many years in various positions, including as Chairman of the Board.
A native of Massachusetts, Joanne has been ranked fifth place in US Masters Running, competed at the US Olympic trials in the marathon, and was formerly an active tennis player and instructor.

Director of The Courtyard at Youville Place
Maria has provided compassionate support for residents with dementia, their family members and caregivers for many years. Trained as a chaplain, Maria served as Youville’s Director of Mission and Pastoral Care before assuming leadership of The Courtyard at Youville Place in 2018. She holds a master’s degree in Education from Curry College, as well as a master’s degree in Pastoral Care and Counseling from Boston College. She is Board Certified by the National Association of Catholic Chaplains. Maria has two adult children and a precious granddaughter.

Director of Programs
Katie is responsible for planning and presenting resident activities and programs. She and her staff learn of the interests of every resident, and offer programs and events to entertain, stimulate and challenge.
Katie earned her bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation from the University of Southern Maine. A Maine native, she can often be found fishing at the lake, or visiting with her family.

Director of Environmental Services
Bob Salamanca brings over eighteen years of experience in the housing industry to his role as Director of Environmental Services. Bob has implemented a number of green initiatives, many of which have resulted in industry recognition, including the 2010 Practice Greenhealth Partner for Change with Distinction Award. He is proud to be part of a great team of maintenance associates and housekeepers.
When he’s not finding new ways to improve the buildings or grounds at Youville, Bob can be found in a local spinning class, or at home with his wife Debra, their two daughters Marissa and Audra, and their Yorkie, Sophie.

Director of Human Resources
Tom brings fifteen years of human resources experience to his role of Director of Human Resources at Youville. He enjoys getting to know the staff at Youville and working with them to strengthen and enhance the work environment. An outdoor enthusiast, he enjoys all outdoor activities including hockey and softball. He also enjoys the theater, and has a passion for photography. Tom holds a BA in Business Administration from Salem State College. He lives on the north shore with his wife and young daughter.

Director of Community Life
Ginger brings many years of experience working with families who are going through transitions to her role as Director of Community Life. Originally from Massachusetts, Ginger has spent close to 20 years with service and non-profit organizations.
Ginger attended Fisher College here in Massachusetts and Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond focusing on both administration and nonprofit management.
One of Ginger’s greatest joys in life is her family. One of six children, with at last count, five nieces, three nephews, five great nieces and four great nephews. Family gatherings are fun, boisterous and loud.

Director of Dining Services
Dan brings 16 years of previous culinary experience to Youville. He began following his passion for food as a teenager, working in restaurants and later apprenticing with a series of chefs. He particularly enjoys French, Italian and Asian cuisine. Dan lives with his wife in Nashua, where they enjoy collecting old comics and other esoteric memorabilia, and taking care of their two dogs.
Director of Community Relations
Yanira received her bachelor’s degree from Suffolk University, where she majored in Journalism with a focus on Public Relations and Business. She has worked continuously for Youville since the age of 14, starting out in Dining Services and later transitioning to Reception, Programs, and most recently, Marketing and Community Outreach. She has spent much of her 13-year career learning about the needs of older adults and finding creative ways to provide supportive resources. In her spare time, Yanira enjoys being involved in her church community, traveling and spending time with friends.

Director of Mission & Spiritual Care
Kathleen is a Board Certified Chaplain and brings compassion, vast experience and a natural affinity for older adults to her role at Youville. A graduate of Mount Holyoke College, she earned her Master’s of Divinity from Catholic Theological Union in Chicago. She previously served as a chaplain for Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Prior to her pastoral calling, Kathleen earned a master’s degree in Urban Planning and Policy and worked for a consulting firm that specialized in community development and planning. Kathleen loves being on or near the water and is especially fond of attending the South Coast Artist Tour each summer. She also enjoys sightseeing, visits to the MFA, historical fiction and Masterpiece Theatre on PBS.

Lydia Kirunda, RN
Director of Wellness
Lydia earned her nursing degree from Middlesex Community College and began her career in pediatrics before transitioning to elder care. She began working at Youville Place in 2012 as Wellness Nurse, and a year later transferred to Youville House as Nurse Manager. Lydia became Director of Wellness at Youville House in 2016.
In her spare time, Lydia enjoys reading inspirational books, cooking, volunteering and raising funds for her charitable organization, Health Santa Africa. She lives in Waltham with her husband and grandmother.

Director of Marketing
Originally from the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania, Abygail grew up in upstate New York and spent a year studying abroad in Israel. She attended Bowling Green State University where she majored in Gerontology and Long Term Care Administration. Prior to joining Youville, Aby worked as Sales and Marketing Manager for the Visiting Nurse Assisted and Senior Living Communities in Somerville. When she’s not giving tours of Youville House, Aby enjoys a wide variety of outdoor activities, especially camping, fishing and skiing. She currently resides in the North End and is the proud owner of a beagle/border collie named Bode.

Assistant Director of Environmental Services
A lifelong Cambridge resident who attended high school across the street from Youville House, Vinnie brings over 14 years of professional experience to his role as Assistant Director of Environmental Services. Before joining the Youville team, he held the title of Operations Manager of Environmental Services at Boston Medical Center, where he supervised a team of 40-50 staff members. Vinnie’s knack for tinkering, troubleshooting and connecting with people are evident to all of the residents, family and staff he works with on a daily basis. On the weekends, Vinnie is usually busy following Boston sports, golfing and spending time with his daughter.

The Youville Place Management Team
Director of Marketing – Youville Place
Susan brings over 20 years of experience in the Human Services industry. She spent 15 years as a Project Manager for a national human services firm helping families find the supports that they needed. She was an Outreach Assistant with the Lexington Senior Center prior to joining Youville Place several years ago. She is passionate about working with and honoring older adults and spends her days helping them transition to assisted living.
A native New Englander, Susan enjoys biking, kayaking, birding, and of course football! She spends as much time as she can at Little Lake Sunapee in New Hampshire with family and friends.

Kathryn Carlino, RN
Director of Wellness
With a smile as big as her heart, Kathryn brings many years of experience of working with seniors to her role as Director of Wellness for both communities at Youville Place. She received her BS in Human Services from St Joseph College of Maine, and her RN from Faulkner Hospital School of Nursing. With a special interest in fitness, Kathryn approaches wellness from a very proactive perspective. Helping residents maintain their health through good nutrition and exercise is a priority. Kathryn resides in Hudson, NH. She has 2 children and 1 grandchild, and in her “spare” time can be found engaged with creative endeavors or doing Pilates.
